This gorgeous J-45 is a special one. Built in 2016 it is number 16 from a limited run of 34 Legend Series J-45 guitars made in the Gibson Custom shop that year. These Legend Series J-45 guitars are meticulous reproductions of a special J-45 from the first year of J-45 production. Some key elements contributing to the tonal grandeur of this instrument include: Torrified Adirondack Top, Thin Nitro Finish and Premium Honduran Mahogany Back & Sides. The neck on this guitar is a war-time exact replica, being large and round, carved from a beautiful single piece of premium Honduran Mahogany. Adding extra resonance and beauty to the guitar is a Madagascar Rosewood fingerboard and bridge with Mother of Pearl dot inlays. To tie this vintage look together they ordained this guitar with a tasteful Vintage Sunburst and classic Firestripe teardrop pick-guard. Another fine addition are the tuners that were made custom by Kluson for this limited run. The nut is 1.75" and the scale is 24-3/4". This is one of the best sounding and feeling J-45 guitars that have ever rolled through the shop. It has a quality vintage vibe and the tone is lush, warm and large. 2018 Huss and Dalton OM-41 Flamed Walnut and Thermo-Cured Adirondack Sunburst Custom
This gorgeous Huss & Dalton OM-41 features Flamed Walnut and Thermo-Cured (torrified) Adirondack Spruce along with a stunning Sunburst and custom inlays. To tie it all together it has beautiful Hawaiian Koa bindings. The Ambertone style sunburst matches that Koa binding beautifully. How about that Abalone! 41-style Abalone top purling, rosette and "sting ray" fretboard inlay are stunning and give this guitar an element of understated elegance. The tone of this instrument, while being warm and rich with plenty of headroom is enhanced further with the Adirondack bracing attached with hide glue. This guitar is warm and woody sounding but with great clarity thanks to the Adirondack top, it plays nice and begs to have music coxed from its strings. Why I love this guitar: Beyond the exceptional visual appeal of this instrument it has a rich round tone thanks to the Walnut and a crispness and articulation from the Adirondack top that is totally satisfying. One of my absolute favorite features of this guitar is they way they went to the trouble of placing black white black purfling under the Koa Binding on not only the body but also the Fretboard and Headstock (don't see that every day). Another striking feature is the Ambertone sunburst that perfectly compliments the Koa Bindings brings out the golden torrification and pronounces the wonderful silking of the wood grain. This guitar is in excellent to near mint condition and is in as about as good of condition as you see with used guitars. The frets have little to no wear, action is perfect medium low. There was a snakewood strap button installed in the usual position of the heel and this guitar comes with the original Huss and Dalton tweed case. Overall a total stunner and a joy to have around the shop (for the time being!)Sold

What are the best guitars for beginners?
The best guitars for beginners have to be both affordable and high-quality, so that you don't have to struggle and can enjoy excellent tone. We recommend that all beginners start with Taylor guitars, particularly the Academy, GS-Mini or Baby guitars, as they are affordable, North American made and easily adjusted by a skilled guitar tech. Many of our customers have a limited budget, or want a guitar they don't have to worry about taking to the camp fire. In this case, we recommend Yamaha guitars as excellent entry level guitars. We have found that they stand out from the competing in terms of their build quality, playability and they are remarkably durable. In summary, the best guitars for beginners are Taylor and Yamaha guitars. However we always recommend that beginners purchase the best quality guitar they can afford, that way they can enjoy the experience and have an instrument that they can grow into. And the worst guitars for beginners tend to be old ones, with rusty strings and high action (where the guitar strings are hard to press down). In that case, we often recommend getting a fresh new Yamaha or Taylor to get started. Once you move from beginner to intermediate, we have an entire world of professional, top shelf guitars to enjoy from Bourgeois, Collings, Santa Cruz, Lowden, Huss & Dalton, Preston Thompson and more!
