The Santa Cruz Guitar Co Dreadnought has been long respected as one of the best professional acoustic guitars available. The most notable player of the Santa Cruz Dread is Tony Rice. His complex musicality revolutionized bluegrass music and inspired a generation of flat pickers. The tone of the Santa Cruz goes far beyond the brute force usually associated with these large barking instruments. Richard Hoover prides himself on reducing the overall weight of the instrument while maintaining strength to produce a guitar that is resonant, subtle and has allot of bone tone. The 1934 D is the flagship dreadnought of the Santa Cruz line, the best examples featuring premium Brazilian rosewood. There is also a Tony Rice model that has that slightly larger sound-hole, also in Brazilian. Other popular models include the regular D model and D Pre-War.
