Bourgeois OO Professional
The third most popular body shape after the Dreadnought and Orchestra Models is likely the OO. The Bourgeois OO is similar in shape to the OM but the body is slightly smaller. The scale and full 14 frets to the body are maintained. This produces an extremely comfortable guitar with a more intimate dynamic. While it may not have the headroom of a full sized OM it is often described as a great couch guitar because it fits under the arm so well. Being larger than the O size it has plenty of volume and excellent balance of tone that one sometimes sacrifices with smaller bodied guitars. This one has tone in spades.
Dana Bourgeois selects this master AAA grade Sitka spruce for these guitars. This is Sitka on a whole other level with beautiful grain, excellent stiffness and tone. Bourgeois guitars imports their own Indian Rosewood as logs and mills it into this beautiful straight wood that has amazing clarity and vibration.
Spruce and Indian Rosewood are a standard pairing because they support the guitars tone in a couple special ways. The stiff spruce top is the perfect sound board creating a fantastic dynamic range. The dense reflective Rosewood makes the perfect sound box reflecting the tones of the top back with a fantastic responsiveness from bass all the way to treble.
I find this guitar extremely playable both finger-style and with a flat pick. The full 25.5" scale length gives a feeling a solid tension on the strings while the 1 3/4" nut width and modern slim neck with slight v have lend a comfortable grip.
Dana Bourgeois and his team over at the Bourgeois guitar factory build a world class guitar that exudes top quality with every note. From the beautiful finish work to the meticulous tap tuning, every Bourgeois guitar is quality over quantity.
