1995 Deering Sierra
Here we have a lovely 1995 Deering Sierra banjo. This has seen some action over it's 30 years of life but feels and sounds great! Punchy, crisp, loud and ready for your next bluegrass session. Four spikes were added on the drone string so you can play in a few extra keys with ease. Comes with a relatively new, really nice Deering hard shell case.
If you were to order one of these new today from Deering they are running $3,340 with spikes
Overall condition is very good, cosmetically player grade (not a case queen). There is some wear on the head in all the usual places. There is tarnishing on the metal and a few dings and dents here and there (see photos). There are a couple small impressions on the back of the neck, likely from a capo (not particularly noticeable while playing). The finish on the edges on the fingerboard has some cosmetic imperfections, likely from expansion and contraction over the years and fret-sprout was likely shaved at some point. There is a crack on the plastic of the drone tuner which appears to have been glued. Frets have medium fret-wear but the notes ring clear and they appear to have good of life left in them. Not cosmetically perfect by any stretch of the imagination but quite functional.
Bottom line is it sounds great, is fun to play and ready for the jam!
