Lowden Guitars: Master Craftsmanship from Northern Ireland

If winter in New England has you dreaming of greener pastures, we’d like to introduce you to our newest line of handcrafted guitars hailing from Northern Ireland!  Lowden Guitars are the lifelong work of George Lowden, a self-taught mastermind of guitar building, who crafted his first guitar in 1969 at the age of 10 and who’s guitars are now played by the likes of Richard Thompson, Ed Sheeran, Pierre Bensusan, and Paul Brady.

We chose to bring Lowden to Northern Lights Music because of their uniquely beautiful style and incredible tone.  The guitars' clarity, depth and fullness can be attributed to George's innovative bracing system, something he calls a "modified A-bracing with Dolphin voicing."  This distinctive sound lends well to delicate finger-picking and light strumming while projecting with depth and fullness.

Lowden F50 Cedar and Mahogany

If "Dolphin voicing" has piqued your interest, come hear it for yourself!  We have a variety of Lowden models in stock right now including the L50 which features Master Grade tone woods, the best that are available, both acoustically and visually.  We have models in Cedar with Mahogany, and Adirondack Spruce with Madagascar Rosewood.

We are also loving the S35C 12 Fret with Cutaway, which is a superb picker's guitar, featuring a AAAA grade soundboard for dynamic range and great upper-fret access.

We are honored to be able to carry these beautiful guitars and look forward to sharing them with our NLM community.
